Service Description

Child (7–17) Diagnostic ADHD Assessment – Face to Face Our Child ADHD Assessment provides a clear, compassionate and clinically robust diagnostic process for children and young people aged 7–17. The assessment follows NICE guidance and considers how attention, activity levels, impulsivity and emotional regulation affect the young person at home, in education and in everyday life. The assessment is completed in a child-friendly and supportive way, giving the young person time to feel comfortable and share their experiences. A parent or supporting adult is involved throughout the process. What’s included: • Full ADHD diagnostic assessment for children and young people aged 7–17 • Detailed developmental history exploring early development and lifelong symptoms • Structured clinical assessment of attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity • Parent interview and discussion with the child or young person • Review of school or alternative-setting evidence and relevant rating scales • Consideration of emotional regulation, anxiety, sleep, learning needs and other possible explanations • Multidisciplinary, dual-clinician review of the assessment evidence • A detailed diagnostic report suitable for sharing with GPs, schools and NHS services • Clear, practical recommendations for home, education and everyday life • Guidance on next steps, including educational support and medication pathways where appropriate Evidence from more than one setting is important when assessing ADHD in children. We will therefore request information from school, college or another appropriate setting as part of the assessment. Why choose us: • Friendly, down-to-earth approach that helps children and families feel at ease • Experienced clinicians with specialist mental health and neurodevelopmental backgrounds • Thorough assessments following recognised diagnostic guidance • Detailed reports with meaningful, practical recommendations • Reports usually returned within two weeks of the assessment outcome • Optional ongoing support from our neurodivergence-trained Occupational Therapist This assessment is suitable for children and young people experiencing persistent difficulties with attention, organisation, activity levels, impulsivity, emotional regulation or motivation. Our aim is to provide clarity, validation and a trusted assessment process, while helping families understand the most appropriate next steps. Delivered face to face at our Doncaster clinic, this option provides a calm and welcoming environment for the child or young person and their supporting adult.
